These are very vigorous, took the temperature swings in Wyoming well (we can have all 4 seasons in one day in May/early June here), and are runnering well, if not a bit over enthusiastic. I did not notice that there were unpollinated berries any more than my other varieties (Cabot, Mara des Bois, Flavorfest, Sparkle). They are more sweet tart rather than primarily sweet with a bit of tart, but the flavor is good and they are vigorous without any disease so far. Produced more berries than some of the older varieties. Took the temperature swings & started thriving faster than Cabot & other varieties I had.

07/24/2020I REALLY liked the taste of these berries. It was SO refreshing after eating Yambu! I could not tell the difference in these strawberries and my early everbearing ones. My mother could tell the difference and she said that she prefers our early everbearing ones. I was pleasantly surprised with these berries. I was in Pasadena, CA the week that they came into ripeness:-( I only had (25) of these plants and I am hoping they send out runners bc I really enjoyed eating them. They have some tartness to go with the sweetness. The next berries I plan to try are Galletta and Jewel. I pulled these out of the center of my flower circle so that I can better reach them. I put "picture perfect" but bad tasting Yambu in the middle of the circle. Yambu is SO pretty that people will be envious when they drive by. They won't have a clue as to how bad Yambu tastes bc they're SO pretty:-)

06/29/2019I received your Rutgers Scarlet plants in excellent condition and at the right time. They had been in the ground for over a month and doing very well, until I left the garden gate open for about a half hour one morning. Mule deer got in and stripped all my strawberry plants of leaves and pulled up about seven plants. I replanted the seven and gave them all some TLC. They all survived. I am still removing blossoms and runners in anticipating great strawberries next year.

08/22/2018Last year's plants didn't make it through the winter. My fault as I used wrong hay to cover over winter and it smothered most of the plants. Reordered this year, so far so good. I will use salt hay this year and hope for a better outcome.

08/22/2018The Rutgers Scarlet were a bit if a dissapointment compared to my other plantings over the years. Yield was low and size ran quite small after the earlier picking. I will be ordering again near the first of January and will possibly try Cabot and a second variety. As always, your service and plants have been top notch.
