Reka blueberry, an early season blueberry variety bred in New Zealand, is one of the fastest growing and most adaptable varieties we have seen. A very vigorous variety, it grows well in light sandy soils, peat and heavier clay loams and is more tolerant to wetter ground than many other varieties. Reka ripens during the same season as Duke, but the berries have a different flavor profile. Fruit is an attractive dark-blue color and the plant produces large crops. Its winter hardiness is rated equivalent to Bluecrop. We are pleased to offer this high-performing variety and strongly recommend it.

These are the earliest we have. They start coming on in early-mid June most years (planted in 2010, now 2020). Find the flavor ok for an early. Downside is the wood is a little fragile, but iit is prolific with new shoots, so easy to keep it coming.

I planted two of these four years ago. Each produced about two quarts last year and are loaded this year. The berries are large, and tastier than the Duke blueberries, which I also have. Although they get plenty of sunshine - 7:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. -- the branches tend to be long and droop when laden with fruit. I am very happy with these plants.

I planted these in June, so I had no harvest this year; but all plants are growing well -- even through a very hot summer!

I had to plant it when the soil was still cold-ish at the end of April but the canes took off in no time. I followed excellent instructions enclosed with my order and fertilized the plants later (didn't get a chance to prepare the soil ahead of time). The leaves are now dark blue with several new canes -- I believe my plants are happy and I can't wait to the next year which should bring the first fruit. Thank you!

These plants were worth waiting for, as they are the best producers. I grow these in NYC along a driveway space only 2 feet wide - urban setting. There are 6 varieties, fruiting in early, mid and late season. The Nourse Farms information was very thorough in explaining the varieties, and the Reka variety is our favorite. Delicious! I do check the soil acidity and follow their recommendations on fertilizer. Wonderful resource, and terrific plants!
