These are the best raspberries I have found. Taste is my main criteria, but fruitfulness is important. Lauren tasted as good/maybe better. However, it didn't fruit well and died out. I originally bought 5 of these, 10 more last year and 10 more this year. I am replacing the lower quality varieties with Caroline. These produce large plants with large, very tasty berries - great raspberry flavor. I plan to make raspberry wine from my large harvest.

I bought five of these Caroline raspberry plants from this company back in 2011. Now it's 2022 and I still have the offspring from the original Caroline raspberries. The canes live for many years. Every year I get an enormous crop of berries which I share with family and friends. I live in Lincolnton, North Carolina near Charlotte and they do extremely well in this climate. When it gets extremely hot and dry you will need to water them just like any plant. If you don't some will die and even when I do water them when it gets extremely hot and dry some do die but they always replenish themselves with plenty more the next year. I grow these in garden beds made of cedar wood with half top soil, half compost and I add several bags of cow manure and crushef up leaves every year to replenish the soil. They are super easy to grow and for the most part low maintenance. Compared to store varieties they have a ton of flavor to the point the raspberries at the store taste like water. I continuously harvest these from summer all the way to frost which is normally anywhere from October to November in my climate. I highly recommend this variety and if grown properly you will have berries for many years to come..

Amazing berries!! This was our first real fall harvest and as of today, our 25 original canes have given us 14 quarts of the biggest, tastiest raspberries ever!! What a treat to have fresh berries in zone 3 almost to Halloween!

I have grown Double Gold and Prelude in the past and decided to try Caroline this year (2021). Since I had to build new beds for these I selected the latest shipping date. They had a slow growth start, but really took off in late August. I was not expecting much of a harvest from my past experience with my other plants, but Wow! This first year I have been harvesting large hand-fulls of berries every 2 days in late September through October! Berries are large, great tasting, and are the sweetest of my varieties. Great for eating right off the cane (none of my berries every make it into the house, lol)!
Other thoughts... there are a lot of sharp little prickers. Normally they are not a problem for me, but I may get gloves to harvest berries from these canes. Japanese beetles Loved munching on the leaves, but Caroline didn't care. They continued to grow and produce vigorously despite the pests.
I am excited to see how they will do next season.
