A primocane raspberry variety from Poland. The plant is vigorous with a more upright growing habit than other varieties. Berries are large, very firm, and have good flavor. Polka is very productive and the fruit does not darken as much as other varieties. Ripens 7-10 days after Polana, similar season to Autumn Britten or Joan J.

Reviews

We planted 10 Polka in the spring of 2020. We love red raspberries but the store prices were so high. This variety has exceeded all our expectations! Our grandbabies love raiding our raspberry patch! Even with them helping themselves, we put 8 gallons!! of raspberries from these 10 bushes last year. I made it into jam over the winter & everyone rants & raves about it. The size of these berries are really great too. We are currently in a drought (central IL) but are seeing berries forming despite the dry conditions. We cut down all the canes every year in late winter & they come back to produce. We are so pleased with this variety & cannot say enough good things about it. It is definitely money well spent! Thank you for such lovely vigorous plants!

Last year ordered Polka raspberries along with Prelude and Joan J. Had a bit of trouble with Prelude but this Spring its coming gangbusters. The Polka and Joan J produced a couple pints each first year, right up to frost. This spring they came heavy and thick canes. I highly NOURSE farms quality and superior varieties. Their strawberry plants are also much better than from companies that are reselling other growers products. Heavy producers the first summer. Gurneys and Stark were huge disappointments but NOURSE berries are great in Colorado!

I ordered this Polka and himbo top raspberries and I was dissapointed with both. I ordered early. I prepped a new garden bed with the help of my son. I was ready when the bear root raspberries arrived and followed the directions closely. 1/2 of the plants did not make it. That is not a good out come. The ones that lived look healthy.

Great Berry. To the writer who asked, do they need to be pruned? YES! Simplest way is to cut all stalks to ground in late winter. You can also cut one year old stalks in late winter to knee level for a summer crop. After the summer crop cut them to ground.

We ‘ve had the polkas in for 5 years. We live at 4200 foot elevation in the suburbs. They migrate a bit, but even with the drought and high temps of the past few years, and near zero winter temps, they produce a decent crop of the BEST TASTING berries we have ever had. I’m considering converting another piece of the yard to plant more of the Polkas!

This will be our third year that we have them first year we had lots but last year not so much, hopefully this year will be better. Do they need to be pruned?
