Customers are reporting that Galletta is highly productive and holds fruit size well through the season. It is rapidly growing in popularity. Reviews

In our garden, plants are vigorous and the fruit is attractive and sturdy, but the flavor is inconsistent. More often than not, a beautiful, fully red berry would taste sour. The berries are best suited for cooking when added sweetener will bring out a more pleasing taste. For fresh eating, I don't recommend these.

We grow strawberries on a well drained sandy loam so need to water strawberries. Have tried many early varieties over the years and Galletta is one of the best. Good crops of nicely sized berries and vigorous plants that produce plenty of runners so it is easy to kep a good bed established.

Of 9 different Nourse varieties that we planted in 2016, we have had the least success with Galletta. For us (in zone 6a with sandy soil), the plants have been low-yielding and the berries small and prone to rot, with a highly inconsistent flavor ranging from excellent to very poor. Nearby, the variety Jewel has consistently produced large quantities of large, flavorful, high quality berries. Galletta is very early if you are looking for an early-season berry, but in our area it might be a little too early, as we lost 3/4 of our berries the first year due to a late frost, even though the plants were protected by lightweight row cover.

I planted these end of July so I could have strawberries in the Spring. I watered whenever there wasn't any rain predicted for several days, a good 30 to 45 minute soak. My system is tiered so the drainage is very good. I am so pleased with these. The plants are wonderful and compared to the Cavendish I got at the same time, night and day. Sorry now I got the Cavendish as they are not doing well for me. Not sure, but my Zone could be 5/6 because of being located in Central Connecticut and at a higher elevation to the Connecticut River Valley.

Harvested 2018 from a 2017 planting. Very impressed with size and quality. Definitely have frost protection available as it blooms early. Plants seem to do fine after renovation, not a lot of disease issues .
