How is Nourse Farms Improving Sustainability in 2026?
Strategic Selections
We know that the right plants in the right places are imperative for sustainability because they can thrive with fewer resources. This year, we’re taking a deep look into our plant offerings to ensure we’re offering the best plants to our growers. We are prioritizing varieties with strong disease resistance, varieties suited to our growers’ climates and production systems, and varieties that are more consistent and uniform, which reduce replanting and waste.

Improving Tracking Methods
We’re focusing on fine-tuning our records to better identify where our sustainability efforts are needed and where they will have the biggest impact. These records include our nutrient and water use in greenhouses and fields. We understand that the most impactful efforts are data-driven.
Strengthening Integrated Pest Management
Long-term field health is one of our top priorities. To best protect our fields for many generations to come, we are working on strengthening our IPM program to reduce the use of chemical control treatments. In the past year, we’ve reinforced the foundation of IPM: prevention and sanitation. At our new greenhouse headquarters in Whatley, MA, we’ve streamlined our sanitation approach, using innovative technology to minimize the risk of contamination in our growing facilities.
