U.S. Plant Patent #18,000 (Elsanta x Polka)
Sonata is the best U-Pick variety we have. We plant 25,000 fresh plants on plasticulture every year and Sonata accounts for 10k. Sonata has a very long fruiting season with the absolute best flavor of any strawberry we have ever grown. I have customers that come year after year now and request to pick "the good ones". The total production is better than anything we have to date. The plants themselves have excellent survivability both post transplanting and in winter hardiness.
The fruit does get smaller gradually through harvest but they are like eating candy and there's SO much fruit. Sonata is our workhorse and it carries us EVERY season. Overall customer favorite and grower favorite for us here in Western Ohio.
