When is the best time to order?

You should reserve your plants as soon as you know what you want, because many varieties end up sold out or with a limited quantity during the spring months..

When is the best time to plant?

This varies by zone. We suggest that you review the hardiness zone map for suggested planting dates.

We sell dormant, bare root plants, which are NOT suitable for fall planting. We suggest planting in the early spring, after danger of any hard frost. We do not ship plants in the fall..

How long after ordering can I expect to receive plants?

When you place an order, we will list optimal shipping dates for your zone during the checkout process, and you will select the week you want your plants shipped.  We ship orders on Mondays and Tuesdays so that customers in all areas of the country will receive their plants in optimal condition by Friday. You should select a ship date that is suggested for your zone.

Can I plant in the fall?

We do not recommend planting in the fall. The best time to plant is in the early spring. We do not ship plants during the fall months.

How many plants should I start with?

The number of plants that you start with really depends on how much space you have to plant into as well as the number of people in your family. Consult our planting guide to determine how much space the plants require.

What varieties are best suited for my area?

We list the suggested zone for each variety on the product page and in our variety comparison charts.

What do I do if I notice a problem with my new plantings?

You should call or email us with your question or problem AS SOON AS you notice an issue. Do not wait until the summer months, as it may be too late. We would rather have you call and find out it's not an issue than to lose your plants..

Do you sell Plug Plants?

Our plants Strawberry Plants are available as dormant, bare root plants. We do not currently sell Strawberry plug plants.  Our Blackberry and Black Raspberry Plants are grown and shipped as plugs.

What varieties can be grown in containers?

Day-Neutral strawberries can be grown in hanging baskets or containers..

How many hours of sun do plants need?

Berries will ripen best with full sun conditions. The plants will grow fine in partial sun, but sun is very important for ripening the fruit..

Can I plant close to “wild” plants?

If wild plants are in an area that you can mow down, it is best to do so. If planting near wild plants that you can’t remove, be sure that there are no disease problems as diseases can transfer into the new planting..

Can we pick up at your location?

You are welcome to pick up your order at our facility in Whately, MA. Please contact us before pickup to ensure that your order is packed..

How do I test my soil pH?

You can purchase pH meter kits at your local garden center, or contact your local cooperative extension service for information on testing soil..

When should I replace old beds?

Add new varieties often to keep your berry plantings bursting with new taste and strong performing plants!

Are your plants certified organic?

We do not grow organically produced planting stock. Organic growers use our plants because the berries are not produced until one year later. .

Are your plants genetically modified?

We do not produce any genetically modified plants..
